New York Stock Exchange Announces $1 Million Donation To Tsunami Relief Efforts

The New York Stock Exchange Foundation, the private philanthropic foundation established by the NYSE, announces it is giving $1 million to support the relief efforts associated with the South Asia tsunami. The donation on behalf of NYSE members and employees is being evenly divided between Save the Children Federation Inc. and AmeriCares Foundation Inc.

“The New York Stock Exchange joins the global community in expressing our sympathy and support for the victims and survivors of this tragedy,” said NYSE CEO John A. Thain. “In making this donation, our desire is to contribute to two of the organizations with personnel on the ground, and to target the neediest of the needy – the children.”

In addition to the $1 million donation, the NYSE Foundation will match Exchange employee donations to tsunami relief and recovery efforts.
