New York Stock Exchange And Athens Exchange Sign A Cooperation Agreement

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Athens Exchange (ATHEX) today signed a Cooperation Agreement during a special ceremony at the NYSE.

Believing that international cooperation between the Exchanges will facilitate the development and efficient operation of both securities markets, the NYSE and ATHEX will collaborate on initiatives that relate to the development of their markets, will consult and cooperate on issues of mutual interest and will exchange information deemed beneficial to maintain the efficiency and integrity of the markets, to the extent permitted by their respective domestic laws, rules and regulations.

"Our agreement with the Athens Exchange formalizes a working partnership between the NYSE and a leading Southeastern European financial market," said NYSE chairman and CEO Dick Grasso. "The Athens-New York alliance further advances the globalization of equities and underscores the importance of cross-border, cross-market cooperation. The NYSE is pleased to partner with the Athens Exchange and we look forward to furthering our relationship with ATHEX and the many outstanding Greek listed companies."
