New York Mercantile Exchange Trades 5 Millionth NYMEX miNYTM Futures Contracts, Announces Record Volumes

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced today that the 5 millionth NYMEX miNYTM futures contracts was traded on November 9. Daily volume records were set in set in total NYMEX miNYTM futures, NYMEX miNYTM crude oil futures, and NYMEX miNYTMnatural gas futures contracts as well.

Total NYMEX miNYTM contracts reached 68,992 contracts on November 9, surpassing the 60,077 contracts traded on September 20. NYMEX miNYTMcrude oil futures contracts also set a new record on November 9 when 64,784 contracts traded, exceeding the 63,682 contracts traded on September 20. NYMEX miNYTM natural gas futures contracts traded 6,266 contracts on November 16, breaking the previous record of 5,474 set on November 1.

Exchange President James E. Newsome said, "We are pleased that the energy industry views these reduced-sized versions of our benchmark energy contracts as an important part of their risk management strategies."
