New York Mercantile Exchange To Change Margins For PJM Financially Settled Electricity Futures Contract

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., today announced that it will increase margins for its PJM financially settled monthly, weekly, and daily electricity futures contracts and its NYISO Zone A, G, and J swap futures contracts, effective at the close of business tomorrow.

Margins on the first month of the PJM financially settled monthly futures contract will increase to $7,000 from $5,000 for clearing members; to $7,700 from $5,500 for members; and to $9,450 from $6,750 for customers. Margins on the second to fourth months will increase to $7,000 from $4,500 for clearing members; to $7,700 from $4,950 for members; and to $9,450 from $6,075 for customers. Margins on the fifth to sixth months will increase to $6,000 from $4,500 for clearing members; to $6,600 from $4,950 for members; and to $8,100 from $6,075 for customers. Margins on the seventh to eighth months will increase to $6,000 from $4,000 for clearing members; to $6,600 from $4,400 for members; and to $8,100 from $5,400 for customers. Margins on the ninth to 10th months will increase to $5,000 from $3,000 for clearing members; to $5,500 from $3,300 for members; and to $6,750 from $4,050 for customers. Margins on the 11th to 12th months will increase to $5,000 from $4,000 for clearing members; to $5,500 from $4,400 for members; and to $6,750 from $5,400 for customers. Margins on the 13th to 16th months will increase to $3,000 from $2,000 for clearing members; to $3,300 from $2,200 for members; and to $4,050 from $2,700 for customers. Margins for all other months will increase to $2,000 from $1,250 for clearing members; to $2,200 from $1,375 for members; and to $2,700 from $1,688 for customers.

Margins on all months of the PJM financially settled weekly futures contract will increase to $3,000 from $2,000 for clearing members; to $3,300 from $2,200 for members; and to $4,050 from $2,700 for customers.

Margins on all months of the PJM financially settled daily futures contract will increase to $2,000 from $1,500 for clearing members; to $2,200 from $1,650 for members; and to $2,700 from $2,025 for customers.

Margins on all months of the NYISO Zone A and Zone G swap futures contracts will increase to $4,000 from $2,000 for clearing members; to $4,400 from $2,200 for members; and to $5,400 from $2,700 for customers.

Margins on all months of the NYISO Zone J swap futures contracts will increase to $4,500 from $2,000 for clearing members; to $4,400 from $2,200 for members; and to $5,400 from $2,700 for customers.
