New York Mercantile Exchange: PJM Monthly Electricity Futures Set Daily Volume Record

PJM monthly electricity futures set a daily volume record on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., yesterday when a combination of 1,945 contracts were cleared or traded and cleared, surpassing the volume of 1,739 contracts on June 18.

The volume includes 705 contracts traded by open outcry and a record 1,240 off-Exchange contracts submitted to the NYMEX ClearPortsm clearing website, the latter breaking the previous cleared record of 860 contracts, also set on June 18. The record for an open outcry session in the PJM monthly futures contract is 1,195 contracts, set on April 11.

The PJM monthly electricity futures contract trades by open outcry from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM and from 3:15 PM, Mondays through Thursdays, to 7 AM the next day on NYMEX ClearPortsm. On Sunday evenings, trading begins on NYMEX ClearPortsm at 7 PM. Electronic trading for the balance of the spot month, weekly, and daily PJM futures contracts, as well as clearing services for off-exchange trades, is available through NYMEX ClearPortsm during the same times.
