New York Mercantile Exchange And Taiwan Futures Exchange Sign Memorandum Of Understanding

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., and the Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) announced today that they have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop areas of cooperation and business opportunities with the goal of enhancing the liquidity, efficiency, and integrity of the markets of both exchanges.

New York Mercantile Exchange Chairman Mitchell Steinhause said, "We are pleased to develop a collaborative relationship with TAIFEX to explore opportunities that could benefit the memberships of both of our financial institutions. We look forward to working together in pursuing the goal of ensuring fair, orderly, liquid, and efficient markets in the futures and options contracts that we trade."

Taiwan Futures Exchange President Foo–shiung Ho said, "By entering into a working arrangement with the New York Mercantile Exchange, we are poised to greatly increase future business opportunities. Since being established in 1998, we have actively pursued involvement in international alliances that would benefit our goal to internationalize and develop our products and markets."
