New Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Field Pea Futures Contract

Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE) launched a new field pea futures contract at 09:30 on April 5. Contract months that became available for trading with the introduction of the contract include: June 1999, August 1999, October 1999, December 1999 and February 2000. The futures contract price reflects the value of Canadian field free board points in the Par region (locations in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, excluding the Peace River district). The contract is traded and margined in Canadian dollars. Contract months include February, April, June, August, October and December. The contract replaces the feed pea futures contract, which was traded in US dollars and reflected the value of feed peas delivered to Northern Europe.
