New Volume Record For NYBOT's Russell Contract

The New York Board of Trade (NYBOT®) announced yesterday a new daily volume record for its Russell 1000 futures contract of 64,680 contracts set on December 12, 2002. The old Russell record was 43,840 contracts, set on June 3, 2002.

NYBOT launched Regular and Large-sized futures and options contracts based on the Russell 1000 Index on February 19, 1999, and added a Mini contract on June 21, 2001. Volume and open interest are expressed in terms of the Mini contract.
