The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange website offers a new service for international investors: a weekly short sales balance in English.
TASE members report to the exchange each week on all short sales transactions, as well as on short sales covered and open short interest positions. The TASE publishes this information once a week on its website.
Short selling balances have steadily increased over recent years, to a peak of NIS 5.3 billion in shares and NIS 5 billion in bonds on February, 2007.
Launching an English version of the weekly short sales balance page, which has long existed in Hebrew, was vital given the increasing interest of foreign investors in the Israeli financial market.
