The main stock index SBI20 crossed the psychological limit of 2,500 points on Thursday and reached 2,551 points on Friday. This represented the 1.5% increase from previous trading day. The Free Market Index - IPT and the Authorised Investment Funds Index - PIX also reached their record values: the IPT finished at 2,053 points and thus increased by 0.4%, and the PIX finished at 1,939 points, which represented the 1.1% increase.
Among the reasons behind the positive trend on Slovenian capital market the last year's abolition of all restrictions for foreign portfolio investments should be mentioned. The trend was continuing throughout this year by lowering banking interest rates in Slovenia, several take-overs, which increased the liquidity on the market, good financial results of listed companies and expected changes towards more attractive capital gains tax regime for investors.
