A record 38,729 futures contracts were traded in cocoa, replacing the previous high of 36,681 contracts, established August 11, 2004. Additionally, cotton open interest hit a record 143,159 contracts, surpassing the earlier record of 141,881 contracts, set April 11, 2006.
NYBOT’s Cocoa futures and options contracts are traded from 8:00 am until 11:50 am (NY Time). The contract is 10 metric tons (22,046 pounds) of exchange-certified cocoa. The Cotton No. 2 contract calls for 50,000 pounds net weight of cotton (or approximately 100 bales), and trades floor from 10:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. (NY Time).
