EEX also set a new record in turnover on the spot market on Monday, with 53,655 MWh (megawatt hours) traded, the highest volume ever traded on an electricity exchange in Germany. The previous record in Germany was 50,087 MWh on March 29. A daily average of about 30,000 MWh are traded on the EEX spot market. The total comprises 6,196 MWh traded in individual hours and 47,460 MWh in blocks, 19,860 MWh in peak-load blocks and 27,600 MWh in base-load blocks.
There are now 35 participants from seven countries trading on the EEX spot market. The companies come from Austria (3), Belgium (1), Germany (21), the Netherlands (2), Spain (1), Switzerland (4) and the UK (3).
