On September 17, 2002, trading in Coffee "C" futures set a new open interest mark of 74,541 contracts, eclipsing the previous mark of 73,658 futures recorded the previous day, September 16, 2002. The futures open interest in September had surpassed an August 5, 2002 record of 73,008 futures.
In NYBOT's FINEX Division, Euro/Yen futures reached a new open interest high of 18,727 contracts on September 16, 2002, surpassing the earlier mark of 17,444 futures set on June 14, 2002. Two other Euro pairs set open interest records as well: Euro/ Canadian Dollar at 3979 futures on September 10, 2002 (old mark of 3,497 on June 17, 2002) and Euro/Australian Dollar at 2,500 futures on September 10, 2002 (old mark of 2,479 on September 2, 2002). The Euro/ Canadian Dollar also set a new futures daily volume record on September 12 of 2.096 contracts (old record of 1,544 (on March 1, 2000). In addition, the U.S.Dollar/Pound set a futures open interest mark on September 9, 2002 of 2,944 contracts (old record of 1,767 on July 14, 1999). The same contract set a daily volume record of 4,064 futures on September 12, 2002 surpassing the previous high of 1,377 contracts).
