New Directors Appointed To The London Metal Exchange Board

The London Metal Exchange  yesterday confirmed that Rupert Robson and Michael Lockwood have been appointed as Directors of the Board of London Metal Exchange Ltd.

Rupert Robson will replace Charles Stonehill as an Independent Director, while Michael Lockwood fills a vacancy for an Invited Director.

Donald Brydon, LME Chairman, commented: “Each of these Directors brings valuable experience to the board. The LME is the world’s leading centre for pricing, risk management and delivery in industrial metals and these appointments will add fresh perspectives from the worlds of finance and mining. I also wish to thank Charles Stonehill for his significant contributions during his time on the Board and wish him well for the future.”

Rupert Robson Biography

Rupert was educated at Eton College and Trinity College, Oxford University. Along with his new role as Independent Director with LME Limited, he is Non-executive Chairman of Charles Taylor Consulting plc and Silkroutefinancial Group Ltd, Non-executive Director of Tullett Prebon plc and Tenet Group Ltd and Governor of Sherborne School and Sherborne School for Girls. Previously, he was Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group in the Corporate, Investment Banking and Markets division of HSBC plc. Prior to that, he was, variously, a Managing Director in the Global Markets Division of Citigroup, Managing Director of J O Hambro Financial Brands Ltd, Non-executive Chairman of Cattles plc and a Director of J Henry Schroder Wagg & Co Ltd.

Michael Lockwood Biography

Michael Lockwood holds a BSc and MBA from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Master’s degree in Geology from Carleton University. He currently works for Xstrata Commodities Middle East, where he oversees the management of the company’s worldwide price risk practice. He has over 20 years experience with the mining industry having worked for Noranda, Falconbridge and Xstrata in Toronto Canada, Santiago Chile and Dubai UAE where he is currently based. Michael’s experience includes extensive work with copper, zinc and precious metals at many market levels ranging from concentrates through to finished metal. He has actively supported the industry for many years through participation in a variety of committees (he is currently a member of the LME copper committee) as well as providing guidance in the editing of the LME’s “Managing Metals Price Risk”.
