Following members’ growing interest for arbitrage between Power and Gas contracts, Powernext has launched a new Calendar product, along with an additional Quarterly maturity, on its Powernext Gas Futures market segment.
The Calendar Year 2013 has been first traded on launch date Tuesday 3rd July 2012 at a price of 26.525 €/MWh for a total volume of 87 600 MWh.
“These products are especially designed for CCGT (combined cycle gas turbines) operators who need to hedge their power contracts. With the fast growing number of gas-fired plants in France (5 GW of additional installed capacity over the past 3 years), the introduction of these new instruments will usefully complete Powernext’s offer on French PEGs”, comments Richard Katz, Powernext’s Sales and Communication Director.
