New Appointment To The Boards Of LME Holdings And LME Limited Announced

The LME has today announced that Mr Gerd Hoffmann, General Manager Recycling of Norddeutsche Affinerie AG has been appointed to serve on the boards of The London Metal Exchange Limited and LME Holdings.

Commenting today Mr Simon Heale, LME Chief Executive said:

“I am delighted that Gerd has accepted this appointment. He brings to the LME substantial experience of the copper and non-ferrous metals industries and he is highly respected by his colleagues in the industry. He has already made a significant contribution to the LME through his work as chairman of the copper committee and we welcome his commitment to the broader development of the Exchange.”

Biographical Notes

Gerd Hoffmann was born in Germany in 1952.

After his education and studies of economics he started his professional career with a large chemicals company for which he spent considerable time overseas, including the Far East. Gerd Hoffmann joined Hüttenwerke Kayser AG in 1981 and became head of HK’s commercial activities in 1986. He was appointed commercial director in 1991 and became a member of HK’s executive board on 1 March 2000. With the recent amalgamation of HK into Norddeutsche Affinerie AG, Gerd is now heading all recycling market activities of the group.

Gerd is actively engaged in a number of international copper organizations and he is chairman of the Copper Committee of the London Metal Exchange.

Gerd is married and has two children aged 18 and 14.
