NCDEX Launches E-learning Portal

Date 04/07/2006

The National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Ltd. (NCDEX) has launched a web based e-learning platform on its website www.ncdex.com for the benefit of farmers and other commodity market participants.

NCDEX is seeking to educate Farmers, Members, Traders, and other prospective clients about the fundamentals of various commodities, benefits of trading in futures, procedures involved in becoming a Member of the Exchange, training on the Exchange trading platform, Physical Delivery processes, etc., via the portal.

The e-Learning portal, which is currently available in English, will be available soon in Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam to enable grass root participants to learn and benefit from commodity futures market.

The Exchange has taken this initiative as part of its efforts to spread awareness about the Commodity Market and develop it further.

The portal can be accessed from NCDEX web site by clicking on the banner named β€œe-Learning”. Users need to register on the portal by submitting their contact particulars, user Id & password. Access to the content is restricted and is available to such registered users only.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. P.H Ravikumar (MD & CEO NCDEX) said, β€œThe e- learning platform is one more step in the direction of providing training and information of commodity markets. We are extremely positive of the scale to which NCDEX will be able to provide commodity training and spread awareness to people across the nation.

It may be pertinent to note here that NCDEX in association with Intel is setting up kiosks across the length and breadth of the country in order to provide financial services – insurance, e-banking, facilitate online trading in commodities and equities - and related information at the doorstep of the farmer. The Community PCs, which have been customized to suit the rough conditions in the hinterland, in the kiosks will help farmers access the e-learning portal.

Further, NCDEX recently tied-up with Dow Jones Newswires to bring accurate, in-depth and relevant news content to help commodity market participants make informed decisions in commodity trading.
