Having distributed and paid up a new share issue Ðiauliø Bankas AB registered share capital amounting to LTL 38 million. The meeting of shareholders of Lietuvos Elektrinë AB adopted a decision to reduce the company's authorized capital by LTL 4.9 million. Aliejus AB reduced its authorized capital by LTL 1 million intending to reorganize into a private stock company. By a decision of the Stock Exchange Board share issues of public stock companies Lietuvos Draudimas and Kauno Audiniai were transferred to the tier of Unlisted Securities, shares of Ðiauliø Stumbras AB were moved from the Current List to the group of Unlisted Securities subject to the central market procedures.
The capitalization of Unlisted Securities grew during the month, while that of the listed securities went down slightly causing the overall Stock Exchange capitalization to stand unchanged at LTL 12.8 billion. Share indices LITIN and LITIN-G fell by about 3%, while the index of most actively traded top ten companies LITIN-10 grew by 7%. The close of the year and trial financial results of the companies induced investors to make adequate changes in their investment portfolios and engage in a more active trading on the Stock Exchange. The number of securities traded during December was almost twice as high as in November and nearly one thousand more transactions were concluded. For that reason the overall Stock Exchange turnover in December was 1.9 times greater than an average monthly turnover of the year and reached LTL 349 million (in September it was LTL 361 million).
Comparison of the last two months of 2002 shows that the share turnover grew most notably, more than 5 times, comprising 24.6% of the overall turnover and amounting to LTL 85.9 million. Just like throughout the year, shares were actively traded on the central market (LTL 13.2 million), but in December turnover of shares in other transactions also grew to reach LTL 72.7 million (in November it was LTL 5 million), with as much as 63% falling to the shares of Klaipëdos Jûrø Kroviniø Kompanija. Apart from this company, shares of Lietuvos Telekomas AB, Vilniaus Vingis AB, Snaigë AB were also traded actively. It should be noted that the price of the shares of Vilniaus Vingis AB and Snaigë AB grew by 12% and 29%, respectively. The turnover of government securities hit year-high and amounted to LTL 263 million. The total quarterly turnover and the share turnover were second biggest throughout the year (following the 3rd quarter) and stood at LTL 573 million and LTL 126 million, respectively. The quarterly turnover of debt securities amounted to LTL 448 million and was the highest in 2002.
For the second time in the history of the Stock Exchange the annual securities turnover exceeded LTL 2 billion reaching LTL 2.024 billion, of which 32% were attributed to share turnover.
