Nasdaq Sets One-Day Point Gain Record For The Second Trading Session In A Row

The Nasdaq Stock Market® yesterday had its largest point increase ever for the second trading day in a row, with preliminary figures showing the Nasdaq Composite® Index rising 167.05 points to 4049.67. The Composite climbed 4.3 percent, its 9th largest percent increase ever. The previous point gain record was set on Friday, January 7, 2000 with the Composite Index rising 155.49 points. The Nasdaq Stock Market lists nearly 5,000 companies, has a larger dollar volume, and trades more shares per day than any other U.S. market.
