The conversion by Nasdaq® to decimals is governed by the Decimals Implementation Plan For the Equities and Options Markets that was submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 24, 2000. Nasdaq will implement two decimal pilot programs prior to converting all equity securities fully to decimal pricing. Nasdaq’s decimalization schedule is as follows:
- March 12, 2001: Pilot of 15 securities will begin;
- March 26, 2001: Second pilot of 177 companies with a total of 199 associated securities to begin; and
- April 9, 2001: Nasdaq equity securities will be fully converted to decimals.
