NASDAQ Selects HyperFeed Technologies, Inc. As Ticker Plant For Data Factory Project

Date 07/09/2004

The NASDAQ Stock Market (“NASDAQ®”; OTCBB: NDAQ) and HyperFeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: HYPR), a provider of ticker plant technologies to the financial community, announced today that NASDAQ has selected HyperFeed to supply the ticker plant to drive their Data Factory Project. The ticker plant will handle market data from NASDAQ itself as well as data from a range of other sources including other equity and option exchanges. The processed data will feed into a wide variety of existing internal applications as well as a range of new products as they are developed.

“HyperFeed was selected as NASDAQ's partner under a three-year agreement after winning an extensive RFP process,” said Adena Friedman, Executive Vice President of NASDAQ Strategy and Data Products. “HTPX was ultimately selected for its functionality, overall value and performance.”

HTPX is a complete ticker plant solution that enables users to receive, process and distribute data from any source, add proprietary data, and deliver it with greater control and lower cost.

HyperFeed‘s solution includes a remote data maintenance service (HLINE) that eliminates many time-consuming data administration tasks, such as making corrections, adding new issues and keeping corporate actions information up to date. HLINE will enable NASDAQ to streamline operational processes and reduce recurring operational costs. “HyperFeed's data maintenance capabilities reduce our internal operating costs while increasing the overall usability of the data in our applications,” commented Ms. Friedman.

NASDAQ will use the system to fast track the development of the NASDAQ Data Factory, a proprietary ticker plant that will be managed internally to disseminate new NASDAQ data products with greater flexibility and efficiency. The flexible architecture of HTPX enables NASDAQ's proprietary data to be fed into the system. HTPX can incorporate NASDAQ's highly efficient algorithms to produce new data sets that can be efficiently distributed.

Paul Pluschkell, HyperFeed's President and CEO, said “NASDAQ's selection of HyperFeed is a tremendous endorsement of our ticker plant technologies and services. NASDAQ is the largest U.S. electronic stock market and, on average, trades more shares per day than any other U.S. market. In this age of electronic trading and automated executions there is no better way to improve performance than embedding our technology directly at the source. ”

“We were very impressed with HyperFeed's professionalism and effort,” said Ms. Friedman. “Our analysis showed their technology was the best fit for our current and future requirements. NASDAQ prides itself on its market transparency, and the HyperFeed ticker plant technology will enable NASDAQ to enhance its transparency to the benefit of investors. ”
