Nasdaq Experiences System Interruption Prior To Close
Date 29/11/2000
The Nasdaq Stock MarketĀ® today said that at about 3:40 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), the Nasdaq quote engine failed to allow Market Makers to update and view quotes. In response to this, Nasdaq suspended the Small Order Execution System (SOES) and SelectNet at about 3:49 p.m. The Nasdaq quote engine was restored incrementally just before 4:00 p.m., so most Market Makers were not able to view and update quotes until shortly after the market closed. The cause of the quote outage is currently under investigation. After hours trading is operating normally.
