Nasdaq Composite Index Tops 4000 - 60th Composite Index Record For The Year

The Nasdaq Composite® Index today closed above the 4000 mark for the first time in its 28-year history. Preliminary figures show the Index finished at 4041.45, up 69.34 for the day. The Index topped 4000 only 38 trading sessions after closing above the 3000 milestone for the first time. For the year, the Nasdaq Composite is up 84.31 percent and is on pace to post its largest annual percentage increase ever. Total preliminary point gain for the year is 1848.76. So far in 1999, the Nasdaq Composite Index has set 60 new record highs.
