Nasdaq Announces End-Of-Month Open Short Interest Positions In Nasdaq Stocks As Of Settlement Date January 29, 2016

At the end of the settlement date of January 29, 2016, short interest in 2,297 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 8,204,510,918 shares compared with 8,194,947,190 shares in 2,308 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of January 15, 2016. The end-of-January short interest represents 3.52 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 5.32 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 738 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 766,280,781 shares at the end of the settlement date of January 29, 2016 compared with 777,219,830 shares in 740 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 4.00 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 4.19.
