NASDAQ Announces Appointment Of Anna Ewing As Chief Information Officer

Date 20/12/2005

The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (“NASDAQ”; NASDAQ: NDAQ) announced today that Anna Ewing has succeeded Steve Randich as Executive Vice President of Operations and Technology and Chief Information Officer. Prior to this appointment, Ewing served as NASDAQ's Senior Vice President of Applications Services. Ms. Ewing will report to NASDAQ CEO Bob Greifeld.

“NASDAQ is fortunate to have someone of Anna's caliber to lead our Operations and Technology area,” said Bob Greifeld, president and chief executive officer of The NASDAQ Stock Market. “With her experience at NASDAQ over the past five years, Anna is well prepared to lead our transition to the INET trading platform within 12 months, while further improving the efficiency, speed and quality of our market.”

Ewing served as Randich's direct report and has been with the organization since 2000. In her prior position, Ewing was responsible for systems engineering and quality control for all NASDAQ systems. Together with Randich, she played a leading role in driving and implementing NASDAQ technology innovation, ranging from the successful integration of the Brut ECN, to the rollout of NASDAQ's Opening and Closing Crosses, to NASDAQ's highly successful exchange-listed trading product.

Prior to joining NASDAQ, Anna was employed at CIBC World Markets in New York, where she was Managing Director, Electronic Commerce. In that role, she was responsible for applications development and e-commerce initiatives within CIBC World Markets, the Investment Banking arm for CIBC. She also created and managed the CIBC World Markets Global Y2K Program office. Before joining CIBC, Ewing served as Vice President at Merrill Lynch, where she held various positions with the Corporate and Institutional Client Group Technology Division, including head of Institutional Client Technology, head of Financial Futures and Options and Prime Brokerage Technology and Regional Head of Merrill Lynch Canada Inc.
