The Nasdaq Stock Market® and the American Stock Exchange® continued to show increased trading activity in the second quarter of 1999.
Nasdaq® finished the second quarter and the first half with a average daily share volumes of 977 million and 988 million shares, respectively. The total dollar volume shot up by over 86 percent to $4.8 trillion from $2.6 trillion for the same period in 1998. Index Share Assets on Amex increased 125 percent to $20.7 billion from $9.2 billion for the same period in 1998.
