The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,091.88 down 4.13 points during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,625.29 up 27.25 points; MCX Energy Index closed at 2,233.66 down 62.91 points and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,416.69 up 23.26 points. The Exchange has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs. 45,227.88 crore for the period October 6-12, 2006.
In the bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 20,886.94 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 10779.44 crore. The outstanding open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 19,745.6 kgs and the total volume recorded was 239,206 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 6,094,860 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 397,320 kgs.
In the metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 4687.32 crore with open interest of 7652 tons and recorded total volume of 135,914 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 916.38 crore, with open interest of 6870 tons and recorded 54,940 tons as total volume.
In the energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 3636.45 crore with open interest of 1057,300 barrels and recorded total volume of 13,145,900 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 1,105 44 crore, with open interest of 2,610,500 mmbtu and recorded 35,804,500 mmbtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1797.21 crore, with open interest of 2596.32 tons and total volume recorded was 26,543 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 129,780 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 540.64 crore and total volume recorded was 41,590 tons.
- All MCX Potato contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 68.10 crore, with open interest of 18,360 tons and total volume recorded was 95,670 tons.
