Multi Commodity Exchange Weekly Market Report - MCX COMDEX Rises 3.79% To 2276.09 Pts

Total weekly turnover of all futures contracts was Rs 53,169.24 crore for the week ended March 29 (Friday-Thursday) against the previous week’s turnover of Rs 49,004.03 crore.

MCX COMDEX closed at 2276.09 points, up 3.79% over the previous week’s close, MCX Agri Index closed at 1746.32 points, up 2.66%, MCX Energy Index closed at 2343.85 points, up 8.79%, and MCX Metal Index closed at 2700.83, up 0.14%.

In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 12,556.98 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 10,982.88 crore. Open interest for all gold contracts was 13,407.2 kgs and total volume recorded was 1,33,575.4 kgs. Open interest for all silver contracts was 4,23,840 kgs and total volume, 55,88,990 kgs.

In the Metal segment, MCX Copper contracts across the board registered a turnover of Rs.9,286.07 crore with open interest of 10,877 tonnes and total volume of 3,10,472 tonnes. MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 3,758.04 crore, open interest of 28,480 tonnes and total volume of 2,62,790 tonnes.

In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs 9,217.79 crore, open interest of 18,89,300 barrels and total volume of 3,32,01,800 barrels while natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 934.27 crore, open interest of 9,75,000 mmbtu and total volume of 2,80,01,000 mmbtu.

Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -

• All Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 304.74 crore, open interest of 1985 tonnes and total volume of 5444.64 tonnes.
• All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts, with open interest of 56,010 tonnes, registered a turnover of Rs. 848.36 crore and total volume of 1,82,980 tonnes.
• All MCX Potato (Agra+ Tarkeshwar) contract registered a turnover of Rs. 931.53 crore, open interest of 1,44,150 tonnes and total volume of 16,35,990 tonnes.
