The total weekly turnover of all futures contracts of major commodities was Rs 34,648.03 crores during the week ended on Thursday (January 19-24) from previous week’s turnover of Rs 47,629.02 crores.
The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,100.46 up 71.02 points (3.52 per cent) during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,711,90 up 8.72 points (0.57 per cent); MCX Energy Index closed at 2,007.03, up 118 points (6.30 per cent) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,582.47, up 85.88 points (3.44 per cent).
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 8,994.52 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 9,502.29 crore. The open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 14,114 kgs and the total volume recorded was 98,030 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 4,899,870 kgs. The open interest for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 363,170 kgs.
In the Metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 5,016.95 crore with open interest of 20,665 tons and recorded total volume of 197,944 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 2633.79 crore, with open interest of 13,455 tons and recorded 159,005 tons as total volume.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 3,518.21 crore with open interest of 14,782,800 barrels and recorded total volume of 1,352,500 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 913.68 crore with open interest of 1,886,000 mmbtu and recorded 28, 821,500 mmBtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All Guarseed contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 375.76 crore, with open interest of 8,670 tons and total volume recorded was 188,450 tons.
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 642.70 crore, with open interest of 2,587 tons and total volume recorded was 11,483 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 46990 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 663 crore and total volume recorded was 142,480 tons.
- All MCX Cardamom contracts registered a turnover of Rs.116.66 crore, with open interest of 2625.5 tons and total volume recorded was 606 tons.
