Multi Commodity Exchange Of India Weekly Market Report – June 30, 2006 To July 6, 2006 - MCX COMDEX Closes At 2311.71 Up 105.87 Points

The MCX COMDEX closed at 2311.71 up 105.87 points (4.58%) during the course of the week; while MCX has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs.26,586.10 crore for the period June 30, 2006 to July 6, 2006. The MCX Agri Index closed at 1563.16 up 29.10 points (1.86%); MCX Energy Index closed at 2861.11 up 69.44 points (2.43) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2510.86 up 219.06 points (8.72%).

All contracts of MCX Gold registered a turnover of Rs.14,012.58 crore, while all contracts of MCX Silver have recorded a turnover of Rs.5,783.62 crore. The outstanding open interest for all contracts of MCX Gold was 8,327 kgs and the total volume recorded was 1,50,234 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 1,59,920 kgs and the total volume recorded was 33,49,650 kgs.

In the metal segment all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs.3,243.03 crore with open interest of 5,853 tons and recorded total volume of 93,242 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs.560.87 crore, with open interest of 2,765 tons and recorded 36,720 tons as total volume.

Some of the other major commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -

• All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs.1336.48 crore, with open interest of 24,22,800 kgs, and total volume recorded was 23,77,476 kgs
• All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 26,160 tons registered a turnover of Rs.343.32 crore and total volume recorded was 84,210 tons
• All MCX Potato contracts registered a turnover of Rs.125.47 crore, with open interest of 1,17,780 tons and total volume recorded was 2,22,720 tons
