Multi Commodity Exchange Of India Weekly Market Report: June 16, 2006 To June 22, 2006 - MCX COMDEX Closes At 2152.85 Up 7.39 Points

The MCX COMDEX closed at 2152.85 up 7.39 points (0.34%) during the course of the week; while MCX has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs.34,247.30 crore for the period June 16, 2006 to June 22, 2006. The MCX Agri Index closed at 1564.32 down 25.71 points (-1.64%); MCX Energy Index closed at 2664.22 up 17.16 points (0.64) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2230.02 up 30.75 points (1.38%).

All contracts of MCX Gold registered a turnover of Rs.17,743.42 crore, while all contracts of MCX Silver have recorded a turnover of Rs.8,465.12 crore. The outstanding open interest for all contracts of MCX Gold was 7,277 kgs and the total volume recorded was 2,03,840 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 2,30,390 kgs and the total volume recorded was 54,18,580 kgs.

In the metal segment all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs.4,866.46 crore with open interest of 5,690 tons and recorded total volume of 1,50,843 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs.737.28 crore, with open interest of 4,885 tons and recorded 52,205 tons as total volume..

Some of the other major commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -

• All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs.421.05 crore, with open interest of 22,57,920 kgs, and total volume recorded was 89,84,520 kgs
• All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 18,250 tons registered a turnover of Rs.335.08 crore and total volume recorded was 81,530 tons
• All MCX Potato contracts registered a turnover of Rs.212.73 crore, with open interest of 90,690 tons and total volume recorded was 3,67,440 tons
