The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,252.92 down 2.02 points during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,749.67 up 10.06 points; MCX Energy Index closed at 2,322.71 down 9.49 points and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,695.38, up 7.12 points.
The Exchange has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs. 39,981.39 crore for the period December 15, 2006.
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 12,516.74 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 9,989.68 crore. The outstanding open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 13,608 kgs and the total volume recorded was 135,062 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 4,808,750 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 266,640 kgs.
In the Metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 4,657.21 crore with open interest of 18,885 tons and recorded total volume of 149,914 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 2945.68 crore, with open interest of 12,295 tons and recorded 149,245 tons as total volume.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 4264.11 crore with open interest of 858,600 barrels and recorded total volume of 15,252,200 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 1111.87 crore with open interest of 3,502,000 mmbtu and recorded 32,508,500 mmbtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All Guarseed contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1576.84 crore, with open interest of 14,600 tons and total volume recorded was 758,680 tons.
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1384.39 crore, with open interest of 3127.68 tons and total volume recorded was 21,515 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 36,480 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 765.83 crore and total volume recorded was 164,590 tons.
- All MCX Cardamom contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 158.43 crore, with open interest of 629 tons and total volume recorded was 4,127 tons.
