The MCX COMDEX closed at 2335.37 down 3.19 points (-0.14%) during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1605.70 down 39.55 points (-2.46%); MCX Energy Index closed at 2715.69 down 48.20 points (-1.77%) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2684.72 up 78.18 points (2.91%).
The Exchange has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs.35, 926 crore for the period August 24, 2006 to August 31, 2006.
In the bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 15190.56 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 9,797.83 crore. The outstanding open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 14,153 kgs and the total volume recorded was 160,196 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 51, 19,930 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 255630 kgs.
In the metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 3587 crore with open interest of 5538 tons and recorded total volume of 101370 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 306 crore, with open interest of 2760 tons and recorded 19480 tons as total volume.
In the energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 2378 crore with open interest of 829,800 barrels and recorded total volume of 5660,800 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 2257 crore, with open interest of 114,60,000 mmbtu and recorded 67,38,1500 mmbtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 483.95 crore, with open interest of 1927 tons and total volume recorded was 8364 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 24210 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 1064 crore and total volume recorded was 2, 46,280 tons.
- All MCX Potato contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 248.71 crore, with open interest of 91650 tons and total volume recorded was 410,610 tons.
