Clearstream now offers more than 100,000 investment funds (fund ISINs) on its order routing platform Vestima. The company reached this landmark at the beginning of October. Vestima delivers a suite of services supporting the cross-border distribution of investment funds and offers a single point of access to multiple execution venues around the globe. It was launched in 2005 and shortly after offered access to more than 15,000 investment funds. Since then, Vestima has grown, on average, by more than 12,000 new fund ISINs a year to reach its current peak of 101,450 funds (15 October 2012).
This steep increase was as a result of the addition of new markets, new types of funds and a general increase in the number of mutual funds across Europe. Today, Clearstream provides its clients and their underlying global investor base access to the largest pool of investment funds available on any cross-border platform. Clearstream’s offering is more than 40 percent above competition.
Philippe Seyll, Head of Investment Funds Services and Member of the Executive Board of Clearstream, said: “Clearstream was first in launching a straight-through-processing (STP) investment funds service in 2005. We have now reached another breakthrough with our 100,000 investment funds on Vestima. We are coming ever closer to our goal to build a global investment funds hub solution through which our clients can offer a global investor base access to all types of funds: mutual funds, ETFs and alternative funds.”
Clearstream is the leading contributor to the standardisation of investment funds processing. Vestima provides a gateway to global investment funds solutions allowing customers to benefit from a streamlined process at all times regardless of the wide variety of markets and investment funds involved. Features of Vestima include automated order routing, settlement, asset servicing and position reporting.
In addition, Clearstream is also growing the value-added services in the investment funds spaces to further increase the attractiveness of investment funds as an asset class. A pioneering solution is the use of investment funds as collateral through which several billion Euros of additional collateral could be made available to the market. The service went live recently and has signed five customers.
