Montreal Exchange to Begin Trading S&P Canada 60 Index Futures and Options

As part of a public event held at the Montreal Exchange today, senior executives of Montreal's trading floor formally announced the launch of new index contracts - the S&P Canada 60 Index Futures and Options - which begin trading on September 7, 1999. In the presence of various members of the Montreal financial community, Gérald A Lacoste, President and CEO of the Montreal Exchange announced, "We are proud to present all market participants with a new range of high-yield derivative products suited to their investment strategies. These index contracts were developed to offer investors a wide choice of strategic solutions in the use of derivative products. This product launch demonstrates once again the vitality of the Exchange and confirms the Montreal trading floor as a truly international exchange." Developed exclusively by the Montreal Exchange, the full range of S&P/TSE 60 index contracts includes index futures (SXF), index options (SXO) and long-term index options (LEAPS™ : LSX, ZSX, WSX…). All these contracts will be traded from 09:30a.m. to 4:15p.m. EST.
