Equities
The trading volume in the Spanish Stock Exchange in October came in at €107.73bn, up 18% from the same month a year earlier and it is the second highest monthly figure so far this year. The trading volume to the end of October was €850.85bn, up 17% on the same period last year.
The number of trades in the first ten months of the year totaled 32.6 million, up 22% from the same period in 2009. In October the number of trades came in at 3.26 million.
The trading volume on the exchange-traded fund (ETF) segment up to October reached €5,51bn, up 107% from the same period in 2009. In October the number of trades on this segment was €382 million and it represents a 31.5% increase from October 2009. The number of trades in the ETF segment to the end of October came in at more than 56,000, up 33% from the same period in 2009. In October the number of trades reached 3,144.
Futures and Options
In October trading on MEFF, BME’s Derivatives Market, came in at 4.7 million contracts, down 17.4% from the same month a year earlier. The number of contracts traded in the first ten months of the year was 54.6 million.
The trading volume in Stocks Futures in October has increased 34% from the same month in 2009, at 1.61 million contracts.
Warrants and Certificates
The number of warrants admitted to trading to the end of October was 6,498.
The trading volume in October on the warrants and certificates market came in at €123 million, 19.8% down from the same period last year and the trades reached 22,380. The volume to the end of October on this segment came in at €1.3bn, down 12.2% from 2009 while the number of trades was 294,260, down 4.8% from the same period a year earlier.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading in October was €396.31bn, up 58.6% from the same period a year ago and it is a monthly record figure so far this year. The trading volume in the first ten months of the year reached €2,58bn up 17.3% from the same period a year earlier.
New issues on BME’s Corporate Debt Market, AIAF, in October totalled €17.92bn, down 21.2% from October 2009. The accumulated figure to the end of October reached 193.13bn, down 43.7% from the same period a year earlier.
In October trading on BME’s Public Debt electronic platform reached €24,8bn, up 150% year on year. For the period January- October, the trading volume reached €221,74bn, up 93.3% on the same period last year.
