Mondo Visione Exchange Forum – The Debate Is Set

Date 22/04/2008

How to value exchanges as businesses will be debated at this year’s Mondo Visione Exchange Forum, to be held in London on June 3–4.

Over the past decade exchanges have transformed themselves from broker-run mutual organisations into dynamic listed companies with a diverse and demanding international shareholder base. The sector is changing rapidly, with technological advance and aggressive new competitors driving the pace.

The Mondo Visione Exchange Forum has attracted speakers and delegates from the world’s leading stock and derivatives exchanges, trading firms and regulators to address these issues. Debate will be frank and fearless in the Forum’s trademark interactive panel discussions.

Paul Chow, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchange; Thomas S. Caldwell, Chairman of Caldwell Financial Ltd; Don Donahue, Chairman and Chief Executive of Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation and Eli Lederman, Chief Executive of Turquoise are among the high calibre professionals who will take part in the debate on issues shaping the future direction of the industry.

Robert Barnes, Managing Director, Equities, UBS Investment Bank commented:

“The Mondo Visione Exchange Forum stands out as a 'must attend' event for exchange industry investors and leaders to shape the debate on trading and execution, clearing and settlement, and competitive new entry - the very themes that impact business on and of exchanges world-wide.”

Dr Benn Steil, Director of International Economics at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York will again chair the Mondo Visione Exchange Forum. Dr Steil is a well-recognised expert on both the historical and current issues affecting global financial markets, and his wealth of insight and experience makes him outstandingly qualified to lead debates on issues facing the exchange industry.

Dr Steil commented:

“The importance of exchanges to businesses and investors is well understood, but the role of exchanges as businesses is not. The Mondo Visione Exchange Forum, building on last year’s hugely successful debut, will take up this theme from all angles – owners, users, partners, competitors, and regulators.”

Herbie Skeete, Founder and Managing Director of Mondo Visione said:

“The remarkable growth demonstrated by leading exchanges has been a tribute to the new management of these businesses. The transformation of exchanges to businesses has been successfully accomplished, but it remains to be seen how this sector will cope with the current economic climate.”

The Mondo Visione Exchange Forum will be held at the Grange City Hotel, London, on June 3-4, 2008. Topics to be discussed will include stock and derivatives exchanges, the buy- and sell-side, clearing and settlement, trading technology and regulation.
