MLP To Replace Dresdner Bank In The DAX - Deutsche Börse Announces DAX Replacement Process - Changes In The MDAX And SDAX

Deutsche Börse named MLP as Dresdner Bank's successor following an extraordinary revision of the DAX index. If Allianz holds between 75 percent and 85 percent of Dresdner Bank shares as the final result of the takeover, Dresdner Bank will be taken out of the DAX after trading closes on September 21, the regular date for the revision of the index. If Allianz holds more than 85 percent of the shares, Dresdner Bank will be taken out of the DAX at the close of the second full trading day following the final announcement. If Allianz holds less than 75 percent of Dresdner Bank shares the DAX will remain unchanged. Dresdner Bank shares held by Allianz through deals on the forward market are included in the calculation. Deutsche Börse announced the same course of action with regards to the takeover of Ergo by Munich Re. As a result of these takeovers two companies have been announced to replace Ergo and MLP in the MDAX. These changes are independent of each other.

The first company to be taken out of the MDAX will be replaced by Stada, the second by Koenig & Bauer. Köhler & Krenzer Fashion will replace Stada and Medisana will replace Koenig & Bauer in the SDAX. The changes in the composition of the indices are based on the official ranking list of May 31, 2001. According to this ranking list MLP best fulfils the two main criteria of market capitalisation and turnover. The Executive Board of Deutsche Börse reappointed Heinz-Jürgen Schäfer as chairman of the Working Committee for Equity Indices. Heinz-Jürgen Schäfer, Head of Global Equities at Dresdner Bank Frankfurt Office will leave Dresdner Bank at the end of June however will continue to act as an independent chairman of the Working Committee and as an external consultant advising Deutsche Börse.
