Minneapolis Grain Exchange Set To Launch Agricultural Futures And Options On Evening Of December 15

The Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MGEX) is set to launch five electronically traded agricultural index futures and options contracts the evening of December 15. Simultaneously, MGEX begins trading their flagship contracts, hard red spring wheat futures and options, electronically during the evening.

The index futures contracts financially settle to spot cash indexes calculated by Data Transmission Network (DTN), a leading business-to-business provider of real-time information services. Financial settlement means no delivery threat, guaranteed convergence between futures and cash prices, and futures and options expire simultaneously. MGEX is offering futures and options on the following DTN indexes: National Corn Index (NCI), National Soybean Index (NSI), Hard Red Spring Wheat Index (HRSI), Hard Red Winter Wheat Index (HRWI) and Soft Red Winter Wheat Index (SRWI).

The Minneapolis Grain Exchange website will offer real time streaming quotes for the five agricultural index products, evening session hard red spring wheat quotes, and a wheat spreads table. Margins on MGEX inter-class wheat spreads are marked-to-the-market.
