Minneapolis Grain Exchange Mourns Passing Of Former President and CEO, James H. Lindau

Former Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MGEX) President and CEO James H. Lindau passed away this aftemoon.

MGEX President and CEO Kent R. Horsager said, "Jim was a great leader for the Exchange, a staunch supporter of and an advocate for our industry, and a man of high ideals. In addition, Jim has been a great mentor and friend to many people here and will be greatly missed."

Mr. Lindau served as president and chief executive officer of MGEX frorn 1988-2000, when he retired. Under his leadership, futures trading volume increased dramatically and the Exchange was fully profitable without any member assessments. He guided the transformation of the Exchange's hard red spring wheat contract into a model for risk management, oversaw the introduction of seven new contracts and increased outreach efforts to producers and foreign traders.

Prior to his tenure at the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, Mr, Lindau served as mayor of Bloomington, Minn. for 11 years. He was employed by The Pillsbury Company for 23 years, leaving his position as Vice President of Commodity Trading to pursue Minnesota politics.

A funeral service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brnsville, Minn. on Sept. 22 at I 0 a.m,
