The Minneapolis Grain Exchange (“MGEX or “Exchange”) has announced extended hours for the pre-open session for its agricultural futures on the electronic platform. As of June 25, the pre-open session will begin at 6:30 a.m. each morning, two hours earlier than previously scheduled.
The change comes in an effort to increase efficiency for firms preparing for re-opening at 9:30 a.m. The contracts available for earlier order entry on the e-cbot® trading platform powered by LIFFE CONNECT® include the MGEX Hard Red Spring Wheat Futures.
This change will not affect the Exchange’s five financially settled agricultural index contracts that are also available on the electronic platform. Those contracts will continue to trade straight through beginning at 6:30 p.m. and ending at 1:45 p.m. central time (see specific contract times below).
