As President, Mr. Gagné will lead Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc. under its new for profit status by building on its strengths as the only commodity based futures and options exchange in Canada. This includes enhancing the current product base, diversifying by exploring non-agricultural commodity based products and by examining the potential for providing new non-traditional services to market participants.
Mr. Gagné has been with the Exchange since January of 1992 and served in the capacity of Vice-President, Finance and Administration. From 1983 until 1991, he was Chief Financial Officer for Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation. Prior to that he worked for a large exploration and mining development corporation and for a large oil and gas company.
Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc., established in 1887, is Canada's only agricultural futures and options exchange. WCE offers futures contracts on canola, canola meal, flaxseed, domestic feed wheat, western barley, and field peas. Options contracts are available on canola, flaxseed, domestic feed wheat, and western barley. For more information on the Exchange, visit www.wce.mb.ca.
