In connection with the Options Clearing Corporation’s (OCC) effort to transition standard option monthly expiration processing from Saturday to Friday, MIAX has adopted the following option industry guidelines:
New Options Listings
Any option series, other than those Grandfathered, that are listed after August 31, 2013 and expire after Jan 31, 2015, will expire on the third Friday of the expiration month.
Grandfathered Options Listings
Option series expiring on or after February 1, 2015 that the OCC has designated as Grandfathered, will expire on the Saturday immediately following the third Friday of the expiration month.
The SPDR S&P 500 TRUST (SPY and SPY7) is traded on MIAX and has been Grandfathered for all existing series and any series that may be added to the December 2015 expiration.
Accordingly, all series for December 2015 expiration will expire on the Saturday immediately following the third Friday of the expiration month.
