MEFF Monthly Information - January 2001

2,243,248 contracts were traded on MEFF in January 2001, for a notional value of 47,490 million euros ( PTA: 7.9 Trn).

Equity Options traded 1,638,948 contracts, IBEX-35 Options 46,923, Stock Futures 151,588, IBEX-35 Futures 368,049 and BONO-10 Futures 37,740 contracts.

The most actively traded options in the month were : Telefónica (529,796 contracts), BBVA (418,304), BSCH (335,991), Endesa (150,042), Repsol YPF (140,419), Altadis (16,864) and Terra (16,570).

On January 11, trading of Stock Futures on BBVA, BSCH, ENDESA, REPOL-YPF and TELEFÓNICA started. The contract specifications are consistent with those of the Equity Options. In the first 15 days, the daily traded volume has averaged 10,106 contracts, making MEFF the world leading exchange in Stock Future trading.

The most actively traded Stock Futures have been Telefónica (73,509 contracts, equivalent to 7,497,918 shares), followed by BBVA (31,874 contracts), BSCH (30,300), Endesa (9,545) and Repsol YPF (6,360).
