The total weekly turnover of all futures contracts of major commodities was up 44 per cent to Rs 57,507.65 crores during the week ended on Thursday (January 5-11) from previous week’s turnover of Rs 39,834.47 crores.
The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,052.27 down 62.53 points (-2.96 per cent) during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,707,76 up .3.14 points (0.18 per cent); MCX Energy Index closed at 1976.31, down 133.15 points (-6.31 per cent) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2472.74, down 57.55 points (-2.27 per cent).
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 15,821.05 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 14,430.00 crore. The open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 14,928.6 kgs and the total volume recorded was 177,880 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 7745,120 kgs. The open interest for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 370,950 kgs.
In the Metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 8,630.55 crore with open interest of 16,301 tons and recorded total volume of 3,35,224 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 5,732.99 crore, with open interest of 1,747 tons and recorded 145,250 tons as total volume.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 6,202.78 crore with open interest of 251, 30,600 barrels and recorded total volume of 14,18,400 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 908.47 crore with open interest of 313,56,500 mmbtu and recorded 22,56,500 mmBtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover:- All Guarseed contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1652.65 crore, with open interest of 10,520 tons and total volume recorded was 807,410 tons.
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1557.34 crore, with open interest of 28,193.04 tons and total volume recorded was 2492 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 214,640 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 1003.81 crore and total volume recorded was 44,050 tons.
- All MCX Cardamom contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 164.42 crore, with open interest of 4241.7 tons and total volume recorded was 635 tons.
