The total weekly turnover of all futures contracts of major commodities was Rs 49,750.25 crores during the week ended on Thursday (February 2-8) from previous week’s turnover of Rs 39,084.03 crores.
The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,147.18 down 8.85 points (-0.41 per cent) during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,697,14 down 5.48 points (0.83 per cent); MCX Energy Index closed at 2,116.01, down 17.98 points (-0.84 per cent) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,628.4, down 3.09 points (-0.12 per cent).
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 13,083.93 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 12,864.06 crore. The open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 138,867 kgs and the total volume recorded was 10,644.6 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 6,452,390 kgs. The open interest for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 356,140 kgs.
In the Metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 7426.68 crore with open interest of 26,663 tons and recorded total volume of 306,786 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 4,655.45 crore, with open interest of 22,330 tons and recorded 323,415 tons as total volume.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 6268.77 crore with open interest of 1,005,800 barrels and recorded total volume of 24,189,900 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 1304 crore with open interest of 1,905,000 mmbtu and recorded 38,243,000 mmBtu as total volume.
P> Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -- All Guarseed contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 267.49 crore, with open interest of 8,520 tons and total volume recorded was 133,260 tons.
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1,034.22 crore, with open interest of 2,035 tons and total volume recorded was 17,209 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 43050 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 841.29 crore and total volume recorded was 184,350 tons.
- All MCX Cardamom contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 138.27 crore, with open interest of 2,837 tons and total volume recorded was 494 tons.
