The total weekly turnover of all futures contracts of major commodities was Rs 39,084.03 crores during the week ended on Thursday (January 29-February 2) from previous week’s turnover of Rs 34,648.03 crores.
The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,156.03 up 43 points (2.03 per cent) during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,702,62 down 0.33 points (0.83 per cent); MCX Energy Index closed at 2,133.99, up 123 points (6.12 per cent) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,631.49, up 20.27 points (0.78 per cent).
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 10,886 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 9,991.32 crore. The open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 11,466 kgs and the total volume recorded was 116,517 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 5041,880 kgs. The open interest for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 349,420 kgs.
In the Metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 5,347.34 crore with open interest of 27,038 tons and recorded total volume of 210,351 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 3,193.09 crore, with open interest of 200,970 tons and recorded 17,670 tons as total volume.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 5,627 crore with open interest of 1,190,900 barrels and recorded total volume of 22,490,300 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 1227 crore with open interest of 1,516,500 mmbtu and recorded 36,885,000 mmBtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All Guarseed contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 351.98 crore, with open interest of 8,860 tons and total volume recorded was 175,870 tons.
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 681.88 crore, with open interest of 1,738 tons and total volume recorded was 11,833 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 45120 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 584 crore and total volume recorded was 128,230 tons.
- All MCX Cardamom contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 98.43 crore, with open interest of 2164 tons and total volume recorded was 520 tons.
