The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,284.78 up 115.60 points during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,753.32 up 15.36 points; MCX Energy Index closed at 2,360.29 up 176.30 points and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,740.73 up 154.41 points. The Exchange has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs. 45,083.31 crore for the period December 1, 2006.
In the bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 15140.89 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 9,777.47 crore. The outstanding open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 12,364 kgs and the total volume recorded was 162974.6 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 4,859,650 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 316,050 kgs.
In the metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 5976.14 crore with open interest of 14,680 tons and recorded total volume of 188,577 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 4351.83 crore, with open interest of 13,535 tons and recorded 215,560 tons as total volume.
In the energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 3402.42 crore with open interest of 1004,500 barrels and recorded total volume of 12,426,200 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 1,564.59 crore, with open interest of 2,127,000 mmbtu and recorded 40,642,500 mmbtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover- All Guarseed contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 191.02 crore, with open interest of 13,000 tons and total volume recorded was 87,690 tons.
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1647.03 crore, with open interest of 2,641.04 tons and total volume recorded was 24,140.88 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 47,010 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 2147.25 crore and total volume recorded was 448,660 tons.
- All MCX Potato contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 49.62 crore, with open interest of 38,970 tons and total volume recorded was 92,130 tons.
