The total weekly turnover of all futures contracts of major commodities was up 64 per cent to Rs 39,834.47 crores during the week ended on Thursday (December 29-January 4) from previous week’s turnover of Rs 24,278.36 crores.
The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,114.8 down 70.35 points (3.22 per cent) during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,1704,62 down 27.45 points (1.58 per cent); MCX Energy Index closed at 2,109.48 down 147.06 points (6.52 per cent) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,530.29, down 36.56 points (1.42 per cent).
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 9,958.67 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 10,805.34 crore. The open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 24,341 lots and the total volume recorded was 108,226.7 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 5,603,590 kgs. The open interest for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 19,398 lots.
In the Metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 6,036.28 crore with open interest of 18,721 lots and recorded total volume of 223,095 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 2685.76 crore, with open interest of 1,747 lots and recorded 145,250 tons as total volume.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 3,959.96 crore with open interest of 15,800 lots and recorded total volume of 14,975,200 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 752.77 crore with open interest of 5800 lots and recorded 26,895,000 mmBtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -- All Guarseed contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1814.18 crore, with open interest of 1,038 lots and total volume recorded was 913,570 tons.
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1,136.70 crore, with open interest of 7,042 lots and total volume recorded was 19,300.32 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 4991 lots registered a turnover of Rs. 1551.47 crore and total volume recorded was 329,180 tons.
- All MCX Cardamom contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 259.92 crore, with open interest of 5,290 lots and total volume recorded was 6501.3 tons.
