Total turnover (single sided) of all MCX contracts for the week June1-8, 2007 (Friday-Thursday) 2007 advanced by 24.4% to Rs50187.83 from the previous week’s close.
MCX COMDEX at 2162.72 points was up 1.23% from the previous close. MCX Agri Index closed up 0.56% at 1692.32 points, MCX Energy Index at 2217.37 points was up 3.69% but MCX Metal Index at 2559.55 points was down 0.59%.
In the Bullion segment, MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs 12413.46 crore,Open interest for all gold contracts was 13,741.1 kg and total volume recorded was 138,793.8 kgs.
Silver contracts clocked turnover of Rs 9116.37 crore, up58%. Silver July closed at Rs 18,330 per kg, up 02%. Open interest for all silver contracts was 564295 kgs and total volume was 4,900,540 kgs.
In the Metal segment, MCX Copper contracts across the board registered a turnover of Rs 12479.53 crore. Copper for June delivery was down0.47% at Rs 303.9 per kg. Open interest was 15,362 tonnes and total volume 406664 tonnes.
MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 5,627.55 crore. The June contract was down 0.93 at Rs 149.85 per kg. Open interest was 29335 tonnes and total volume 367845 tonnes.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs6116.17 crore. The June contract was up 5.31% at Rs 2719 per barrel. Open interest was 1,1581,800 barrels and total volume of 22,886,400 barrels.
Natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 232.28 crore, open interest of 14,11,500 mmbtu and total volume of 7,077,500 mmbtu. The June contract was down 0.53% at Rs 318.9 per mmBTU.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 194.77 crore, open interest of 1,038.2 tonnes and total volume of 3,875 tonnes. Mentha oil for June delivery was up 1.5% at Rs507.5 per kg.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts, with open interest of 41,950 tonnes, registered a turnover of Rs 1,126.64 crore and total volume of 229,000 tonnes. The July contract was up 0.25 % at Rs 494.1 per 10 kg.
- MCX Potato (Agra) contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 90.53 crore, open interest of 70,110 tonnes and total volume of 150,150 tonnes. The June contract was down1.46% at Rs 585.5 per quintal (100 kg).
- MCX chana contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 72.43 crore, OI of 3900 tonnes and volume of 32,510 tonnes.The June contract was up 064% at Rs 2199 per quintal.
